untitled

Cut and paste collage made using a book cover, vintage images, photos, a glassine envelope into which I placed an image of fingerprints. I have become interested in the writing and textures preserved on the backs of photos and wanted to use them in a collage.

a single black and white tree

Cut and paste collage. This is a very simple collage made using an orphaned cabinet photo mount. Years ago when I was doing decoupage I learned to extend a picture by painting its elements beyond its borders (I was not very good at it). I've tried to do a  similar thing here using a photo and an illustration (no paint) and it is something I would like to do more of in the future.

anonymous

Cut and paste collage. With this collage my intention was to use only the backs of photos as background and the reverse printed side of a couple hugging. As viewers we have no idea what images were captured in those photos nor who the couple is.

Queen for a day

A sunprint I made and some paper.

Pop Porn

I used sunprints I had made for this collage. Inspired by Andy Warhol (he made a porn flick called "Blue Movie").

Mlle. Harmonographie

Cut and paste collage made for The Kollage Kit theme of the week - "machines / technology". Best viewed large. The patterns in this collages were made by me using a mechanical harmonograph, which took me ages to build, test and get to work. All up this is one of the most time-consuming collages that I have made (even though it doesn't look it). A harmonograph is a mechanical apparatus that employs pendulums to create a geometric image. Old Man Night

The World's Greatest Disappearing Trick

This collage was inspired by my dislike of seeing animals in captivity and my love of magic tricks. I based it around a single vintage photo featuring a lion behind bars, which I freed with my scissors.
